The Hidden Mistress

Now I know that there's thousands of reviews and published comments on the global giant that is Final Fantasy. Yet I believe that there is room for one more. Mine!

If you would all be kind enough and bear with me for a page of spontaneous writing, then I may possibly make a bit of sense to some of you. As most that have played the games. I've lived in the vast worlds and made friends with the countless characters. I've cried and laughed and had my heart broken every time I see those final credits roll up.

I know a lot of you out their can completely relate to the above and have spent hour after hour staring at your TV screens battling monsters and leveling up your comrades. It does though some times take over your life. Now I know anyone reading this may be shaking his or her head in disagreement, but I know you know I'm right.

I can remember the times I've left my girlfriend laying in bed, while I've crept down the stairs to spend so quality time with Tifa or Yuna, Ashe or Fran. Now how daft does that sound, I've left my lovely misses in a warm bed to spend a few hours with animated women. Go figure! Yet we all do it and I can sense a few more heads shaking out there, but once again you know I know you know. Confusing? Well yes it is, I don't know why we do it or what we think we get out of it.

To be less depressing for a moment or two I'd like to spend some time reviewing the latest installment of the series, Final Fantasy 12. To be honest not the best of the bunch, but it can certainly hold its own against some of its predaceous. A usual the CG's are stunning, with know detail missed. I would have liked to seen more cut-scene like in the days of number 10, but what they did they did well.

At first I did find myself expecting to stubble across a light saber, or run it to that bloke with the big black helmet. (I think most of you can guess what I'm on about). But an hour in, that all passed and the game began to take its own shape.

Now this then became my big worry. The game had started to slowly draw me in and I couldn't put the controller down. 7pm turned into 3am, the sun set and rose and I got a slap round the head from the missies for falling to sleep on the sofa again. I could feel another affair coming on, one that may even top final fantasy X. With the new monster hunt, to the new battle mode, I knew I was going to enjoy the new installment.

A few things did let me down mind you. Once I had spent my usual time leveling up and I was at level 65 when it was recommended level 40 I started having trouble finding a challenge. The odd side-quest had me thinking sometimes, but all in all not to many worries. I did annoy myself though with that sodding Zodiac Spear.

I made absolutely sure I didn't go anywhere near those chests, and when it finally came to the point were I could claim my prize, the stupid thing wasn't there. My own fault I'll admit, but starting the game again would have earn a cold night, sleeping in the garden and a black eye!

In a nutshell, we all in some way or another devote a bit to much time to these hidden mistress's, but it's cheaper than booking a hotel room and a lot less dangerous than the real thing.
