A Real View on Red Mages

Introduction

The name is Luster. I go by a different name on the Caitsith server. As thrilled as I was that the Red Mage (RDM) was to make its first appearence on FFXI since Final Fantasy on NES, I have never been so disappointed in Square (Excluding FFX-2). The RDM though a fun job at first becomes an annoyance to all inculding the player. RDM is nothing more than a a back row spell casting slave to most. Now do not let my words deter you from play this job because that is not the point. The point is to prepare you for what will become a boring job for those who like casting magics while shoving a sword down a Goblins throat or up a Gigas arse. Remember this is just a way to help you out and prepare you for what lies ahead.

Levels 1-10

As with all jobs start from just outside the city gates. Leveling is fast and soloing is enjoyable. If leveling in Bastok start with Tunnel Worms and Huge Hornets then move on to Stone Eaters and Vultures. If leveling in Windurst start with Tiny Mandragoras and Crawlers near the gates then move onto Mandragoras and Yagudos. If leveling in San d'Oria start with Wild Hares and Carrion Worms then move on to Sheep and Orcs. Since you will be Soloing most if not all of your first ten levels take the time to master casting spells like Cure and Stone. Also make sure to level up your Healing and Enfeebling skills as fast as possible. Stick around town and Cast enhancing spells like Protect and Cure on the kind citizens of Vana D'iel. Spells You Must Know by Level 10: Dia, Cure, Stone, Poison, Paralyze, Protect, Blind, Water, and Bio.

Levels 10-18 (19 and 20 optional)

Beastmaster-The Misunderstood Class (Levels 1-35)

Best Guide to 99 Fletching in Runescape

So... you think you may want to be a Beastmaster do you? It can be a very rewarding class, but I'm going to take a moment and talk to you about the basics.

First, Beastmaster is a VERY misunderstood class. No matter your race, or color, be prepared to be examined a lot by others. Secondly, Beastmasters have a very negative standing with some due to a blurb printed in the Brady Games official FFXI Guide, and I quote "Powerful, tamed monsters cause people to lose EXP. Alone, This isn't a major issue for Beastmaster, but it may be for parties.".

This statement is very misleading, and has caused nothing but grief in my previous 33 levels. I hope by reading this Guide, it will help you understand the basic functions of how a Beastmaster works in and out of groups.

The Quest.

In order to do the quest to become a Beastmaster, you must be Level 30 and already have your chocobo license. It begins in Lower Jeuno; speak to Dietmund, you'll find out his kid is sick and needs a rare flower to break his fever. The flower is on Qufim island, at F-8. Head there and run to the cliff. Look down and you'll see a semi hidden path. Take the path and proceed with caution, there is a level 45 Kraken guarding the Flowers. At midnight, the flowers will begin to glow, that's the time to strike. Grab the flowers, watch the cut scene, and then head back. Talk to the man who gave you the chocobo quest and watch another cut scene. That's it! After that though, remember to go to Dietmund's house and check in on the boy, he'll give you 2100 in cash and a Beastmaster necklace for level 24.

Crazy Hikigaeru's Guide on How to Whoop upon Level Twenty Avatars

Legal Gobbldygook:
Final Fantasy XI and anything found within it or said about it or even thought about it is owned, lock, stock, and barrel by the nice folks over at Square-Enix. So.uh.why did I have to write that? Is any one of you going to go trying to sell the stuff I'm gonna mention? If you can find a buyer, you can probably worm your way around those pesky copyrights, so do me a solid and try not to incriminate me into your crazy scheme. One time I tried taking out my brain. The easy part was taking the brain out. But the hard part was taking the brain OUT. Oh.wait.I think this officially became a rant. Wait. What the hell's a rant?

Introduction

This is a guide to the new fights Square-Enix put into the game. In the olden days of a few weeks ago, you had to go fight a level 60 Avatar to be able to summon it. This was crap, because no one wanted to raise a job to level 60 just to be able to effectively start the job he or she wanted in the first place. But this raised the problem among existing summoners who were afraid that there would be an influx of newbie SMNs that would crap up the job. This wasn't their real reason for anger; this was what they said to save face. What really angered them was the fact that you used to be able to demand respect as a summoner. 'Fear me and my avatars! I have another class that's at least level sixty! Whooo! Scary!' But, if these jerks ever start to lay into you, you can calm their woes by bringing up this point: you cannot get Fenrir at level twenty. You need to be around level seventy-five to get him, so the elitist SMNs can still parade around their Fenrirs and show off their mad lootz.

The Guide about Job Combo RDM/NIN

This guide is meant to serve as a tool for those who wish to find out more information about the job combo RDM/NIN. The information contained within deals with the various strategies, battle tactics, equipment choices, and other frequently asked questions about Ninja as a subjob for Red Mage. It represents the collective information provided by my own experience and information of other players. The information is organized in such a manner so that it is cumulative as you progress throughout your RDM/NIN career.

I.) Basic Information on Level Progression

- Levels 1-19

NIN sub offers little at these levels. It is best to go with another sub that would be more beneficial to you (/WAR, /MAGE). While you do get Tonko: Ichi (grants effect of Invisible) at level 18, sooner than that of RDM itself, there is little to gain from subbing NIN at these levels.

- Levels 20-23

Here is where you start to get your first important skills of NIN sub. Dual Wield comes into play at 20, but unfortunately it is not as beneficial as one might hope. You will only have Dual Wield I, and this will increase your attack intervals. However, coupled with the sword enhancing spells, the combo can still be effective, and more importantly fun.

- Levels 24-33

At level 24 you get the NIN spell Utsusemi: Ichi. Here is where the fun begins. The combination of Fast Cast and Utsusemi gives you a lot of power coupled with the RDM enfeebles used correctly. The benefit of other enhancing spells, such as Phalanx, Protect, and Shell provide you the protection you need to begin soloing monsters somewhat safely. You still don’t have the abilities needed to take on mobs that are very difficult, but you are getting a chance to train the ability of blinking, enfeebling and killing with damage over time.

- Levels 34-40
